Alright, we are a little over two weeks into being a family of 5 and I feel I have my bearings a bit now. Chloe is quite literally the easiest angel baby of all time, which has made our transition so simple. I also think the more kids you add into the mix, things just somehow get easier despite them getting a hair crazier. Somebody asked me on DMs the other day how I seem to be so adjusted, and I truly believe it’s mostly the nature of adding a third and also having a husband who can co-parent very equally with me due to the nature of our jobs. I believe all parents can co-parent and carry the loads in different ways! But the actual physical toll of daily tasks and splitting night shifts is a huge unique factor at play for us that we are grateful for. It’s so hard not to compare experiences through social media, but I know we have such a unique situation that isn’t always possible for many. He can take the 3 AM shift to feed and then starts working around 4 to get a full day’s work in. Then, I take the day and the 12 AM feeding. He typically does the 9 PM, but we are both up usually and while he feeds, I pump. We are also committed to helping one another get a nap during the day if at all possible. Again, this just isn’t everybody’s situation and we recognize we are lucky to be able to both take on the load (and blessing) of three babies in the way we do.
Anyways, that said, I just am really thankful for how seamless the last two weeks have felt. My recovery has been the best of all my babies, and we’ve heard Chloe cry (no joke) MAYBE a total of two minutes… like total. Combined. (I am telling you – she’s the easiest, most content baby). Before Chloe was born, we hosted my photographer’s lifestyle workshop at our home and did a maternity shoot. These photos are so special and captured our boys so sweetly. I always hear people say, “I could never get photos like that.” Truth is, all you need is a photographer who knows what they’re doing. My boys were running around like wild men the entire time and I think there’s only two actual posed pictures in this entire set of images. Hannah, my friend and photographer, is just so good at capturing lifestyle and movement. With that, if you want family pictures but don’t know how it would go, I cannot suggest doing them either in your own home or a studio that feels confined and homey. It just helps a lot!
Any time I share photos or videos of our living room in particular, I seem to get asked for links to the same few items most. The top two requests are always my sofa/love seat and our rug! Just a reminder, I have Shop My Home on the top bar of this website with links to everything I can add links to, all categorized by room. I have been doing my best to update them as we make purchases for the home! I will add Chloe’s room ASAP as soon as it’s completed- we are getting close! Sadly, my sofa and loveseat were purchased from Nebraska Furniture Mart a few years ago and I have never been able to find it online for y’all. Womp. Our rug is from the Studio Mcgee line at Target, and it’s the perfect subtle addition of color in our living room with its blue and cream hues. We also just finally got our windows covered, and I have had over $1000 worth of curtains in my cart on hold at Pottery Barn for 6 months. But then, I found these on Amazon and the reviews were too good not to give them a shot… I thought, if anything, it’d be temporary to finally get my windows covered for some privacy in our main living space. But after getting them up, they are so nice and elegant and they rival curtains 4x’s the cost. I will be keeping them as-is! I got the curtain rods and panels from Amazon and have them all linked below!
For these photos, my outfit and the boys’ were provided by my photographer from her client closet! The boys’ rompers are from Simple Folk. I always love to share our family photo shoots to inspire your own special pictures to hang in your homes. I really believe getting professional pictures as often as you can is something to value because they will live on for generations! I will cherish these photos with my boys forever.
