This is a paid partnership with Marriott Hotels for The Renaissance Dallas at Plano Legacy West. Though the room and some services were provided to us for free, my review of the experience is an honest opinion. You will see noted in our itinerary what was provided by the hotel vs. what we paid for on our own.
If you follow me on Instagram, I am sure you noticed this past weekend we had a staycation at The Renaissance Dallas at Plano Legacy West. This is one of our absolute favorite places to go for date nights or just to get me out of the house during the day. I mean, there’s a Sprinkles Cupcakes and a Starbucks Reserve… What more in life do you need? Am I right?
So when The Renaissance reached out to me about coming for a stay, it was really a no-brainer. Of course I want a staycation at our favorite spot! I was excited to experience their beautiful hotel, eat enormous amounts of food at our favorite restaurants that are all in the Legacy West shopping center, and *most of all* celebrate my sweet hubby’s 29th birthday! We couldn’t have had a better stay, and we are so grateful to The Renaissance for their incredible hospitality and for inviting us to come stay. I cannot wait to show you guys their beautiful amenities as well as our full itinerary for your own stay! Whether you are local and looking for a great place to have a little getaway at, or are from out of town looking for a fun place to travel to- Legacy West is the perfect spot!
Plano is booming, right next to Frisco where the new Cowboy’s practice facility is, and tons of new companies are coming to the area (like Toyota HQ!). The overall feel of the city has changed immensely over the last few years alone that we have lived in the area, and it’s exciting to watch unfold. There’s SO MUCH TO DO, but especially in the Legacy West center. You literally can just come and never leave during your staycation. Everything you need is here. I am not going to lie… We had a classic parents of a baby getaway and slept literally the entire time other than a couple outings for food. But, for real, The Renaissance had Netflix and Hulu, which blew my mind. I have never stayed somewhere that had smart tv’s for you to login to your Netflix account. Soooo… that was a game changer IMO. We watched New Girl ALL. FREAKING. DAY. and slept. Day 1… I literally thought I heard Knox crying and had to get into “staycation mode.” But once I did, I was all in! 😉
The Renaissance provided us with, no joke, the best room in the entire hotel. We had the top floor king suite that looks out over the entire city. It had a living room + a room suite, they delivered us cheese and fruit night 1, and the shower had a bathtub INSIDE it. The rooms have Aveda products, which I really appreciated. It was absolutely above and beyond anything I ever expected, and they treated us like royalty our entire stay.
Our Itinerary- Where we ate, what we did!
Thursday
3 PM Check-in (Explored the hotel a little, napped, got ready for dinner)
6 PM Drinks at Del Frisco’s Bar- This is our favorite fancy date night steak house and it’s literally across the street from The Renaissance!
7 PM Dinner- Paul ordered a Filet Mignon + Brussel Sprouts, I got their Medallions with mashed potatoes and green beans. We also ordered their bacon appetizer, which we had never gotten before. It was to die for, and you should 300000% order this if you go. They also had allergy friendly bread for us, which rarely happens. Allergy friendly means gluten-free, dairy-free, and corn-free. Sounds like it’ll be horrible, yeah? Haha, But it was fantastic!
Friday
10 AM Woke up *FREAKING YES! 10 AM!* Breakfast at Up Inspired- This is the only place we drove to our whole trip, but it’s our favorite breakfast spot and was only about a 5 minute drive from the hotel so we went. We get the GF granola acai bowls here. They’re huge and so delicious. The honey has a unique flavor that they drizzle on top, which makes the bowl, in my opinion. Their coffee is also BOMB.
12 PM- Back to hotel to hang and watch more New Girl
1:30 PM- Lunch at Mesero’s and Shopping- Mesero’s is by far our favorite date night go-to. It’s the best Mexican food! Their drinks are fantastic, their salsas are incredible, and the service is honestly unbeatable. We have never once had a bad experience here. We order the Carne Asada plate with corn tortillas and a side of chicken. They don’t do a true “fajita” plate, but this is their way to give you fajitas. It comes with rice and beans, guac, and pico- just like a fajita plate. I ordered the bean soup for the first time for a lighter lunch option, and it no joke was the best bean soup I have ever had.
We then walked around Legacy West, which is curated with the best shops! It’s a very unique curation of shopping and a lot of stuff that you won’t find just anywhere. There’s a Fabletics store, a huge LuluLemon, a Madewell, Filson, J Crew, MAC, Credo, Sugarfina… And like a zillion others.
We made it back to our hotel for, alas, a nap and more New Girl (For real… I think we did at least one season while here!) We now understand people who told us before we had a kid that they slept for fun when they went on vacation… Like, we are those people now, too.
6 PM- We got dressed up and went downstairs to the Whiskey Moon bar in the lobby before dinner at 7 next door. Our second night was packed at the hotel because tons of people were staying at The Renaissance for the Seahawks/Cowboys game AND a college football championship game. There were fans everywhere from all over the place, and it was so fun!
7 PM- *paid for by Marriott* The Renaissance treated us to dinner next door at Bulla Gastro Bar, which was such a fun experience! They are a Spanish restaurant, which was new to us. They do Tapas, Paella, Steaks… I mean such a variety! We both ordered their Margarita and the hummus dish to start. The hummus was incredible, and they were so careful with our allergies. The chef even came out to talk to us before preparing any food for us that night!
For dinner, we both ordered the ribeye and OH MY GOSH. First of all, the plate came with TWO RIBEYES. I barely made it through the first, but of course Paul ate both. They catered to our food allergies and brought us different sides than what the dish on the menu says it comes with. I also ordered the Paella, because I had never tried it before. I ordered the seafood one, so it was rice with mussels, shrimp, chicken, and octopus. Okay, so the octopus totally threw me off. HOWEVER, the rice and shrimp were out of this world good.
Saturday
9 AM- *paid for by Marriott* Breakfast at the hotel’s restaurant OMA. This place was SO. DELISH. And, the overall aesthetic was so cute. There was a whole wall of plates, which I really appreciated. We are very into “the feel” of places, if you haven’t noticed. It is honestly 50% of our opinion of a place. The other 50% being their food, of course. OMA delivered 100% for us between the two! I had their egg white omelette with gluten free toast and jalapeno turkey sausage (OMG SO GOOD), and Paul ordered the steak and eggs + a side of bacon (LOL, my husband is a carnivore).
We had such an incredible trip and are so grateful to The Renaissance Dallas at Plano Legacy West for everything they did for us. This hotel would make a great spot for an incredible wedding night, wedding guests spot to stay, staycation, babymoon, bachelorette party, birthday party… I mean really anything!
This trip, we didn’t go to Legacy Hall. However, we’ve been a trillion times and absolutely LOVE it. It’s 3 (maybe 4?) floors of Artisanal Food. Think a mall food court x’s about 100 haha. It’s incredible food, like Austin food truck type food, all packed into one massive building. There’s live entertainment, a beer garden, a brewery… It’s seriously amazing! I have had Greek, Pizza, and Tacos there, just to name a few. I have also had acai bowls, popcicles, coffee, and -if I could- I would be first in line at the waffle place. The minute they make a GF one, though, count me in!
