Hey hey, girlies (and gents!). Phew, I don’t know about where you’re at while you read this… but I am in Texas where it’s too dang hot for my AC to keep up. Holla atcha, where is F A L L, because I am ready!
If you’ve followed me since pre-baby, you know that I am all about Pure Barre. I love barre. I used to work at a Pure Barre, and I believe in it more than any workout I honestly have ever done. I love the community of women, and I love how kind the low-impact (but high toning results!) is to my body. Post-baby, though, it has been a lot harder getting to the barre. In fact, come May I had only been a hand full of times since Knox came and I was really down about it. I was tired of saying, “I will figure out a way to get there” after five months of unsuccessfully doing so. So, I have been getting my booty to the gym these days at a really great local spot that provides childcare. I hope to get back to Pure Barre on weekends when Paul can watch Knox while I go! Going back to a regular gym has changed up my fitness routine and attire entirely. Like, seriously my first two weeks of going I kept my head down and walked to the far left corner for an elliptical, avoiding eye contact with anybody. I did my best to keep from looking dumb by not trying machines I didn’t know how to work.
As I have grown more comfortable in the gym, I have been getting more confident in trying new things. I mean, you guys, I tried the thigh machine. AYOOOO! We are taking ground by storm, folks. My newfound confidence, and dare I say LOVE, for the gym has also made me want all the Nike things. It’s just true that the more you like your workout clothes, the more you like working out. I have the winter Metcons from two Christmases ago, because… black and rose gold. duh. But I linked below a couple of their newest Metcons in store right now. The Metcons are the BEST tennis shoe I have ever owned, and they’re worth every penny. I am pretty obsessed. I also am as in love with these Rose Gold Tempo Shorts as I thought I would be.
Typical hour at the gym: 30-45 minutes of cardio (elliptical, stair stepper, treadmill, etc.) and some kind of rounds workout (usually something I meshed together from BBG and other similar workouts from Pinterest). See below for a typical workout I will do!
Lastly, I want to encourage you to just get out and do SOMETHING. Set a goal and keep to it. Somebody asked me on Insta the other night how I stay motivated to get to the gym. My answer is that I want to be healthy for my baby (ies), and confident in my skin. I like feeling fit for my husband, too… SAY WHAT?! 😉 But seriously! And listen to me, everybody’s confident size is going to be different. My confident size will be different from yours. My goals will be different from yours. That’s okay! Just pick your goal- what makes you feel confident? My belly and body are entirely different than they were before Knox. And I definitely have goals to get my belly back. BUT even if my tummy never get that 6 pack again, I just love feeling fit and healthy.
