HAPPY FRIDAY YA’LL!
Today’s post, I am sharing 5 fun facts about me. It still blows me away anybody follows along my seriously simple life or reads the things I write, but I definitely am beyond grateful and love sharing with you. So, today I am keeping it simple and just sharing funny facts and quirks about me that you probably don’t know! I hope it just makes you feel like you know me a little better. (Or, it might make you be like, whoa- this girl is a nut job.) Either way, welcome to my life and I am glad you’re in it!

1. ROUTINE
I am the most predictable person, because I am a woman of routine almost to a fault. I do the exact same things every morning, eat the same meals every day, and follow an order to things so closely that, if it gets jumbled, I have to talk myself into believing everything will be a-okay. I like order, and I like to know far in advance what to expect from something- be it an event, a trip, or just dinner with Paul… I need to know what is going on. In college, I was so OCD about order, I would buy 3 different cereals every week that paired well together (ex: Blueberry Honey Bunches, Banana Nut Cheerios, and Frosted Flakes), and I measured out with a measuring cup 1/3 of each for a full bowl of cereal.
2. DANCE
Maybe you know this one, but I was a dancer my whole life and danced through college. (I also played competitive soccer until I was 16.) Kick and pom are my favorite, though I love a good modern routine, and there is nothing like the high you get right before you strut out on stage. I was captain of my high school team, and then captain of my team my final year of college. I love choreographing for schools on the side and helping judge tryouts in the spring.
3. COLLEGE
Speaking of college, I studied Broadcast communications with a minor in writing. I took 18 hours a semester and graduated in 3 years, and got married two months after walking the stage. (#IwasCRAZY) I had an unhealthy obsession with Al Roker and Katie Couric growing up, and wanted to be a Today Show newscaster more than anything in the world. Then, as I got closer to graduation, I decided I would rather be a wife and write than be at a news studio at 3 AM. (Not exactly the romantic newlywed life I had always dreamed of.) Hence, the blog has satisfied the itch I always had to do something “broadcasty”, but this is a bit more manageable. 😉
4. HOMETOWN
I am from an itty bitty town of 4,000 called Bulverde, Texas. (Although in the last few years it’s grown crazy fast. BOOOO.) I grew up there majority of my life, minus 3 years in Deer Creek, Oklahoma. My parents built us a home on a large ranch where I spent some core years of my childhood running around chasing goats, and then when we moved back to Bulverde from Deer Creek, we lived in a cute little yellow rock home with a front porch, chairs for morning coffee talk, and chickens in the back yard.
5. MORE SIMPLE THE BETTER
I get really stressed out if something is too complex or stupidly more complicated than it should be. I don’t need a bunch of apps on my phone (in fact, I hate apps that in theory “make life easier”). I prefer researching things for myself rather than asking Siri, my favorite television show is I Love Lucy, and I would rather stay at home with a book on Friday than go out. I have had the same 5 favorite movies for over 10 years and watch them routinely on repeat throughout the week, and the same three best friends for over 10 years. Most people think I am an extrovert, but I am actually an INFJ. I am a deep thinker, I act off of emotion more often than not, and I 1000% recharge by myself- not with friends. Love y’all, but after a long day, I want to be in a dimly lit room with a candle, and a glass of wine by myself (my dog and hubby are welcome, of course haha.) I am also a Christmas loving FOOL. If it were up to me, Christmas would be all year long.
Bonus: I am absolutely HORRIFIED by frogs. I know it’s silly, but they legitimately make me cry and give me anxiety. I think there’s a very good reason God made frogs part of the plague, and I have no intention of coming anywhere near them.
Seriously love y’all. Thanks for reading The Cake. I have said it so many times before, but you have made lots of my dreams come true and I am so thankful for what this community has become.

Girl! I can totally relate to so much of this (specifically routine & simpler the better). I have the same routine every day, including eating the same meals over and over, but it helps keep me sane haha. And I HAVE to recharge by myself. Like you said, a glass of wine & good book or netflix show. I don’t know how others can go, go, go 24/7 and never have time to themselves. Oh, and Christmas is my favorite. Well, Thanksgiving too, and just Fall in general. It’s the best! You can just call me a basic white girl for loving fall, sweaters, fires in the fire place, and pumpkin everything.
Thanks for sharing! I seriously love, love, love reading your posts 🙂
