HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!
Paul and I happily spent last night in on the sofa watching Friends, and baking chocolate chip cookies. We are 80 years old at heart, and both totally okay with it. (& YES! I am holding to this baking thing + BONUS the cookies were AMAZING.) I will share my recipe soon.
I wrote a post a couple days ago that was a nod to 2016, and anticipating 2017. But, I wanted highlight my TOP favorite moments of 2016 for y’all. I am not kidding when I say this was an incredible year for us, one of my personal favorites, and there is so much to recall.
Though hard to narrow down, here is a highlight reel of my favorite moments:
We got married again.. jk. But in February, Paul and I celebrated our 2nd wedding anniversary, and we are just shy of our 3rd! Time flies, and I am trying to capture every second of it that I can. We got to do a styled wedding shoot to celebrate our 2nd with a very talented team of people.
When I launched my blog, I had a few brands I set as goals to work with. BareMinerals was one of those. (They are all I have used for years!) I got to put together a special Valentines Day look for them, and it was such a fun shoot! This subtle romantic look was so fun and flirty.
My shoot with Dillards for Swim Day was one of my most favorite and exciting shoots of 2016. It pushed me out of my comfort zone entirely, but gave me such a great opportunity to share my heart about comparison. By far, a moment this past year that taught me more about myself and what I am capable of.
In June, Paul and I went on our first vacation since our honeymoon to The Four Seasons in Las Colinas to celebrate my birthday and his (long time coming) graduation. We spent way more money than we knew to do with, jumped on a big white fluffy bed in the best suite on site in bath robes, ran away from flying golf balls in what was meant to be a romantic moment, and ordered room service just because. It was refreshing, and one of my favorite experiences with my husband so far. I wrote about it here.
In September, my three best friends since forever came to Dallas to do a photo shoot for Dillards x Kate Spade with me. We rarely are able to get together, so for us to all have a weekend we could be together like this was so special. We sat on the sofa and talked for hours, and it was wonderful.
In November, I had my grandma, grandpa, mom and dad, and in-laws at our little apartment to host Thanksgiving for my first time ever. It was my favorite Thanksgiving in a very long time, and I made memories I will hold onto forever. Particularly, riding a merry go round with my mom and grandma. I wrote about hosting them all here.
Then… the biggest event of all! In early November, I soft launched my dream of The Cake Shop and have been overwhelmed by the love and support I have gotten from all of you. Launching a shop meant I had to put myself out there for failure. Once again, I had to step way out of my comfort zone, but God was so faithful in my leap. I can’t WAIT for The Cake Shop 2017!
December brought its ups and downs of the holidays, but I am so grateful for my sweet hubby. I truly can’t say enough how thankful I am for our life. We don’t have much, but the more aware of what we do have, the more full we are able to live. Cheers again to a new year. I am so stoked to take it on, conquer more dreams, and do it all with this man along my side (and y’all along for the ride!) Thank you so much for being part of my life.
xoxo- Han
