It’s officially BACK 2 SCHOOL around here for all the kids, and it’s made me envy that back to school shopping I used to do every fall. Back to school shopping was basically sacred in our home. We hardly ever got to buy new clothes, so we took the $150 mom and dad gave us very seriously. When we bought our new clothes at the beginning of August, it was understood we could not wear any of our new stuff until the first day of school. It was the LAW of the land in the weeks leading up to school. Our new items would sit in the closet looking back us, just making me more excited for the first day of school so I could finally wear those shoes I had so desperately longed for.
I would meticulously map out my outfits and items I new I really wanted before going to the mall, and would think through how to make the most of each item with things I already had + new pieces I could buy. I always got one more expensive thing, usually shoes, and then cheap tees and tops, and 1 new pair of denim. Then we would get a new jacket every other fall/winter or so, depending on how much we grew. But this was how back to school shopping went EVERY. SINGLE. YEAR. in the Cheves household.
I learned early on how to put together outfits and make the most of my budget. Side note fact: I used to take photos of my outfits for the week and would hang them on a bulletin board in my room. I took my outfits really seriously, y’all.
So in the spirit of Back to School, I have rounded up my favorite items I would buy if I was going back to school (comfy is the name of the game). Sweat suits, joggers, bomber jackets, the best denim, tees, and sneakers… YES PLEASE. And, because baby sneakers are the cutest thing on the planet, I have rounded up mini-me versions of back to school for some cute mommy and me looks.
Happy back to school season! *even if you have nobody in your home going “back to school.”*
My outfit pictured is from Landry Kate! These jeans are BARELY camo. I actually didn’t even realize they were camo until I got home. I thought they were just distressed black denim LOL. But, when I saw they were camo, I loved them EVEN MORE. This loose thermal top is perfect for fall + winter. It’s light enough to transition into the season without melting yourself, but also easy to layer with as the temperatures drop. You can call in for it! These pants would look super cute with this tank, too!
